Effects of a fungicide treatment on yield and quality parameters of new varieties of durum wheat (Triticum turgidum L. ssp. durum) and bread wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) in Western Andalusia [Spain]
Abstract
Five durum wheat varieties (Triticum turgidum L. spp. durum) and five bread wheat varieties (Triticum aestivumL.) have been tested in yield trials located in Jerez de la Frontera (Cádiz) in 2000-2001 and 2001-2002. The statisticaldesign consisted of random blocks. Effects of fungicide treatment with epoxiconazol on yield, kernel weight, hectolitricweight, proteins and vitrosity percentage, falling number, baker strength and extensibility were studied. A highincidence of the foliar pathogenic agents Septoria tritici and Puccinia triticina was detected. A high correlation wasobtained between the severity level of both diseases of durum wheats and their productivity. The quality factors kernelweight and hectolitric weight of durum wheats were altered by fungicidal effects. No statistical correlation wasobserved among the parameters studied in bread wheat.Downloads
