Abstract

Eighty five species of Cerambycidae (Coleoptera) were recorded for the Province of Mendoza, Argentina, 72 already mentioned in the literature (5 Prioninae, 5 Anoplodermatinae, 52 Cerambycinae, and 10 Lamiinae) and 13 new species (1 Prioninae, 10 Cerambycinae, and 2 Lamiinae). The descriptions of some type-specimens cited for Mendoza are included. Six species (1 Anoplodermatinae, 4 Cerambycinae, 1 Lamiinae) should be excluded from the fauna of the districtthese appear to have been either mislabelled specimens or introduced species that failed to establish themselves because of the different climate. Most of the species discussed are grouped according to their host plants (or botanical families) as recorded for other areas of the country. This paper includes the first off icial citing of Phoracantha recurva (now correctly identified) in Argentina, though it has probably been in this country for more than 30 years.
